The SMC Tigerline was first launched in the summer of 1992 in Hauppauge, New York.  SMC's networking division had its first legitimate higher-end connectivity solution of managed Hubs.  The line helped SMC expand beyond being just a producer of Network Interface Cards which had been its staple and spanned technologies such as Arcnet, Token Ring, and Ethernet.  The line became known for innovation in technology as SMC launched an Ethernet variant called T4 that allowed communication on all four pairs of wires in the RJ-4 networking cable.  As Ethernet evolved, so did the Tigerline adding switching, stacking, clustering, a multitude of features, and numerous advancements leading up to todays Green Networking and Environmentally friendly product lines.
